Zenith occasionally takes the unusual step to publish its sever logs. Some readers have objected to publishing those parts of the logs that identify individual viewers by reverse DNS lookup. Zenith respects their desire for anonymity and has deleted these from our presentations.
We are not a commercial operation, and hence the value of these logs for "sales" has little significance. Sales data is "theoretical," i.e. potential profits and costs. Nonetheless, it is interesting to know where our viewers are coming from, what they like to see, and how much time they spend, and what sales are possible from this site. From this we can learn a bit more about how to organize our efforts.
What the report reveals that we found significant for August:
Our internet hosting service provider switched his server from a Windows-based operating system server to a "Plesk" server. This is a drastically different system, and has a different way of compiling server logs. Thus, direct comparisons between information provided for August and previous reports are not meaningful. Gathering this information from the Plesk system was far less convenient and resulted in some delays and loss of information obtaining the information for previous months.
Please understand that Zenith does not sell anything, but if we did the following is an analysis of
what we might expect in the way of hypothetical costs and results based upon the web traffic information supplied by server logs.
